MobiCom 2025 Travel Grant Application

ACM MobiCom 2025 is pleased to provide travel grants to support students attending the main conference and the co-located events in person.

Eligibility

ACM MobiCom 2025 offers two types of student travel grants to full-time students at colleges and universities who attend ACM MobiCom 2025 in person.

  • NSF student travel award (US-only). NSF student travel grants are available only for full-time students attending US colleges and universities (not necessarily US citizens or permanent residents) AND for US citizens or permanent residents studying abroad. Recipients of NSF travel awards must use US flag air carriers.
  • SIGMOBILE student travel award (General): Student travel grants from ACM SIGMOBILE are available for both international and US-based students.

What’s New?

Student travel grants will be awarded to partially cover the cost of attending and participating in ACM MobiCom 2025. This year, ACM MobiCom 2025 student travel grants will be awarded with (1) a lump sum travel expense reimbursement and (2) a student registration discount. The only travel expenses that can be reimbursed are accommodation, conference registration, and transportation (airfare, public transportation, driving, etc.). The student registration discount can be used for the conference registration of the award recipient only.

How to Apply

To apply for a travel grant, the student applicant should submit one application package through the following Google Form by providing the following basic information

  • Name, gender, university/college, email address, Ph.D./MS/undergraduate student
  • Whether the student is eligible for NSF student travel grants (US-based)
  • SIGMOBILE student member number, if the student has one. (A SIGMOBILE student membership costs $5 for one year and can be applied for here).

In the Google Form, the applicant should also upload one PDF file that combines the following two files:

  • A CV that includes:
    1. The country of origin and the country of residence
    2. Current university/college
  • An application letter that includes:
    1. Whether the student has any accepted MobiCom work (conference or workshop papers, posters, demonstrations, etc.). If yes, please give the title and the author list of the accepted work.
    2. Whether the student is a first-time attendee of MobiCom.
    3. If the student is not a first-time attendee of MobiCom, whether the student has received a MobiCom travel grant in the past.
    4. A brief summary of the student’s research interests and accomplishments to date.
    5. A description of areas reflected in the MobiCom program that would impact the student's research.
    6. A statement about why attending the conference is important to the student.
    7. An estimate of the following costs of attending MobiCom 2025: transportation (e.g., airfare or driving mileage), hotel, and conference registration. It is anticipated that travel grants will partially cover these attendance costs.

A recommendation letter from the advisor of the student applicant is also required. The letter should provide the following:

  • A confirmation that the student is a Ph.D./MS/undergraduate student in good academic standing at the given institution.
  • The impact of the MobiCom program material on the student's research progress.
  • Other benefits the student would derive from attending the conference.
  • A description of the student applicant's strengths and potential contributions to the mobile computing and networking field.
  • A written statement regarding the availability (or lack thereof) of travel funds for the student.

The advisor's letter should be sent to mobicom2025.stg@gmail.com directly by the advisor no later than the submission deadline.
